Connell gets the W, but that was extreme even for Tony V. I don’t get it but a W is big

He DID what he was supposed to do. He's just not made to be used the way he was, but there must be some explanation. Still, having Phillips available will make it hard for me to buy whatever explanation we hear. That said, TV is still the best thing to happen to UT baseball in my lifetime. But I'm going to call them like I see them.

The weird thing is, last year I felt like they used Kirby too little. He would come in for 1 batter, sometimes 2. But maybe that’s exactly how he should be utilized, as a lefty specialist.
This team badly needs AJ Russell back, but I’m not sure it’s going to happen.

Yep, he was used in a way that worked to his strengths last year - off speed / change of pace pitcher whom hitter struggle to adjust to for an inning or inning+, and he generally keeps the ball down and gets a lot of ground ball outs. But he's not fooling any decent hitting team for very long, and just can't be left out there.

One thing about Kirby Connell, he does not give up 5 home runs to Kentucky in one game. Will never happen.

I finally beat him when I just went nuts from outside and hit a few layups. I told him “nobody beats me 18 times in a row. Nobody.” He was amused and proceeded to start another long streak over me.
