Halftime: Miss State 45, UNLV 32 It was 45-26 with a minute left, and three straight defensive breakdowns along with an airball of a wide open three and an offensive foul allowed the Rebels to have an easy 6-0 run in the last minute. The Bullies ultimately took care of business, though. As long as Hubbard isn't seriously hurt, MSU could be even more of a pain than they usually are. And now Butler just beat Miss State. How in the world did APSU, who we beat handily, beat Butler. Go figure.

Looking at past vol players and potential transfer targets, I have to say that this year the coaching staff made mostly the right moves (Aidoo wasn’t their choice but he has been hurt all year). The transfer targets we didn’t get haven’t panned out well. Really nice evaluations. Internal and External. So guys we wanted but didn’t get and aren’t playing well is good evaluating?? fair. We made plenty of business decisions. Milicic vs Tyson being 1. Tough calls but made the right one.

"Looking at past vol players and potential transfer targets, I have to say that this year the coaching staff made mostly the right moves (Aidoo wasn’t their choice but he has been hurt all year). The transfer targets we didn’t get haven’t panned out well." Please correct me if I am wrong... we seemed to be all in on Tyson Cade of Belmont. If my memory serves me correctly, he was the number one priority at the guard position. It was only after he committed to UNC that the Vols went after Chaz with renewed vigor. That turn of events has been critical to our early season success and hopes for the rest of the season. Seven games into a mediocre start to UNC's season, Tyson Cade is coming off the bench averaging 3.4 points, 1 rebound and 9 minutes a game, while shooting 38% from the floor and 28% from 3 point range. Might have dodged a bullet on that one. They prioritized Milicic and to a certain extent Cam Carr over Tyson. Carr was leaving if Tyson came. I’m not going to lie and say they didn’t pursue Tyson hard initially, he was literally in the vol walk. But decisions, difficult ones, were made that they got right. Lanier was always the priority. They thought about backing off because of Mashack and he said go get him. We need him.

Wow, Cade Tyson is averaging 3 pts a game on 28% shooting from 3 lol. Thank god we didn’t spend a fortune on him like he wanted.

Mashack had a whirlwind of a couple of weeks. Aidoo was his guy and it became clear he was leaving. Then the Lanier talk. I think he wavered briefly, but his family is rock solid. He found his footing and made good decisions.

Deacon gets alot of message board grumbling over the type of kids he recruits, but I really think the character of the guys we recruit is part of the reason this team has been essentially a top 10-15 squad for the past three years.

CRB gets some grumbling about it, but I think he gets a lot of credit for it too. I think that’s just the spectrum of a large and passionate fan base.

I've seen only bits and pieces of several UNC games so far this year, but I think I might have seen Tyson on the floor perhaps once so far this year. Now that Dubar is starting to come on a bit, I am quite satisfied with the transfers the Vols have brought in. Each one shows at least a little something extra that adds to the capabilities of the squad while still embodying the "culture" Barnes is so justly proud of fostering.
