Seasons with Deacon. No worry about jinxes or curses, I mean the basketball gods are gonna get us anyway, I am just gonna enjoy it cause when it ends who knows what it will be like.
Florida is now just an average program, nobody remembers when Indiana was good. Freakin' TwWNBn just hired BYUs coach for cryin'out loud. Maybe we don't get that FF, probably even, but I have something to at least hope for each yr and we don't hardly ever worry about making the tourney.
So let's sign some AAC players and load up for another run.

I'm on board with this.

With the amount of 1 year players and seniors that could be on the roster next year, I’ve been wondering if next year is the last ride.

So let's sign some AAC players and load up for another run. What choice do we have? We can either enjoy the ride we're on and accept that it's highly unlikely we make a FF, or we squander some great seasons by worrying all year about our NCAAT finish. This year was, and likely will remain, the best shot we've had at a FF under CRB. But our program is really the top overall program in the SEC over the past several seasons as a whole now. Yes, I will be forever annoyed that Auburn and Bama both got Final Four banner before we did (if we ever do), but our basketball program as a whole has been better than either of theirs.

It's an interesting question - will CRB decide the state of the game right now is as good a time as any for him to step aside? Or does he just love coaching too much to not keep doing it awhile longer?

I kind of feel like CRB is on the verge of really thriving in the portal era. He's realized he can go out and get scorers and train them to play defense for one year rather than getting 3-4 year athletes that might be more naturally suited for defense but need to be trained to score.

He's realized he can go out and get scorers and train them to play defense for one year . IMO that’s a huge assumption because he’s only done it with 1 player who has transferred in who just so happened to be a generational talent for this program

SPD said he was done with jinxes and curses a couple of weeks ago, and he's still posting. So apparently the Earth did not open up and swallow him.

Gainey and Knecht certainly got better, but not Top 5 Defense better. Instead, Barnes was able to surround them with five all-defense-caliber players: Z, Santi, Mashack, JJJ, and Aidoo. Things might look different when JJJ and Aidoo aren't erasing mistakes.

I'm going to try to put the curse stuff on the shelf too. But we have a long way to go to have a high quality roster next year. We currently have 8 players. We've lost 5 of our top 7 scorers from last year, including the best scorer of my lifetime. At the moment, our best post player is JP Estrella. The one backup to him played a combined 80 minutes this past season. Gainey, Mashack, Carr, and Dubar fill out the wing spots, and there is clearly some talent there, but it's either inconsistent or unproven.
I know we're not done with the portal, but it looks like we're going to be the bridesmaid with what I would consider our top target (Tyson). I'm sure we'll add some decent players to fill out the roster, but we'll go into next season with more questions than we've had in several years. I'm still probably in Debbie Downer mode, but I think we probably just missed our best chance at a Final Four, and those just don't come around very often.
Current Roster:
Zakai Zeigler Jordan Gainey Jahmai Mashack Darlinstone Dubar Cameron Carr JP Estrella Cade Phillips Bishop Boswell

And there will be games where even average centers make things tough on us inside without Jonas.
