Beam will start for UT.
The game starts at 5:32 eastern, but the Lady Vols softball game is in the top of the 7th (unfortunately Miss State is the home team), so the baseball game won't be showing on the SEC Network until this softball game concludes.
Edit: The Vols got an extremely timely hit from Dylan Dreiling, who I continue to believe gives us the most polished and consistently quality at bats in a loaded lineup. His two run, two out single gave us our 3rd hit of the game, and a 2-1 lead that would become a 3-1 final. It also gave Dreiling a team-leading (by a large margin) 46 RBIs.
Billy Amick provided the insurance run in the bottom of the 8th, his 2nd home run in two games since returning from two+ weeks out of the lineup after having his appendix removed.
Drew Beam threw 6 2/3 innings of one run ball, working out of early trouble in the 1st and 2nd innings (we did give up a run in the 2nd, but it was unearned as Amick tried to make a difficult throw on a great bunt when he should have just eaten that ball).
Andrew Behnke came in with two outs in the 7th to strike a guy out, and then Nate Snead pitched two innings of shutout ball, giving up one hit, no walks and three K's.
The Vols go for the sweep tomorrow, with Zander Sechrist scheduled for the start. He may throw only a couple of innings, and I guess how long Vitello/Anderson stick with him will just depend on how he's looking.
Tennessee is now 29-6 overall, 9-5 in the SEC, and have done this with a pitching rotation replacing several guys and dealing with an injury that has kept the top starter, Russell, on the injured list most of the season (and may keep him there the rest of this season potentially). In a league as tough as the SEC is, to be ranked #4 and doing so with a pitching staff that has sort of been stitched together and juggled, is a pretty masterful job to this point.
After tomorrow's finale, the Vols will host familiar baseball foe Bellarmine on Tuesday, then travel to Lexington to take on a very good Wildcat team.
