I have a feeling we are going to look back at this one as one we regret got away. Disagree. Even if he is really good. This is the era we are in.

He might be very good elsewhere but likely wasn’t ever going to work here. Extremely slow to understand the concepts, especially defensively. We’re 14 months in and he was blowing coverages due to mental errors against Creighton. In a more wide open, reactive type system on both ends he could be very good. Everybody within the program certainly knows how talented he is.

Deacon has been here for 9 years; we have been to the tourney 6 of those and only missed one after he got the thing built back up (yes, I count the COVID yr as a 'miss' cause we weren't making that tourney). We have 2 Sweet 16s and an E8 and are on a program record streak of being ranked in the top 25.
There is no one player that could transfer that will cause me to lose any sleep, especially not one who hardly ever played. I hate Dilione is leaving and wish him the best... on to the next guy (just like these kids are onto the next program).
and guess what.... if he goes somewhere else and becomes a good player.... good for him. If he wanders in the wilderness and then explodes in the tourney like DJ Burns, good for him. I won't consider it a 'miss' or that we made a mistake letting him go. I care about TN basketball winning and if we keep doing that, I ain't gonna sweat transfers.

There’s an old saying that there’s two reasons you sell a car:
1. Because your car sucks and you need something better; or 2. Because you’ve come into some money and want to get something nice (because your car sucks and you need something better)
I have no further comments

As long as we replace him with a shooter, I think we'll be fine. Give me two portal shooters to play on the perimeter, and if that makes guys leave, then whatever.

He barely played, so I don’t hold that against him, but Carr showed me more. And they played different positions, as someone noted, so that contributed too. I feel like I did when Clemens left the Red Sox and later earned more Cy Youngs with the Blue Jays and Yankees: good for him, but he had not been pitching well in Boston for a couple of years, so what he did elsewhere didn’t make me think losing him hurt the Sox.

Could’ve been a good four year player, but far from what I thought he was gonna be. I just missed on this one, I thought he was gonna be like Keon Well, the fact that he didn't make the USA U19 team that Awaka was on this past summer should have been a clue that he was not a talent of Keon's caliber. Still, I hate to see him go. We could have used him as a backup to ZZ next season and the starting PG when ZZ leaves. But that kind of roster logic just doesn't apply in today's world of the transfer portal and NIL.

Transfers are GOING to happen; some of them will be good--either coming in or leaving--for your favorite team and some will be bad, but no fan has any influence over transfers either way, so we might as well just accept them as a feature of our times.

Because your car is really nice but not as responsive as you'd like...
