Having read that, this may be a game where Santi's defense (depending on how good his stamina is coming off the flu) may more than offset the lack of offensive production he gives us this season. We have to guard the three.

Unlike the last few, I don’t like this matchup on paper. I think we need a poor shooting day from Purdue to win this. They are due one.

So how is everyone feeling about the game?
Need another big TO disparity and it would be nice to keep them cold from 30. I could do without 78 fouls.
Not sure how the players feel but for me, even though we’re finally playing a better seed, I feel strangely confident or relaxed. Ranking the games IAW my stress level, they’d grade out as:
Texas (by far most stressed) Creighton next Purdue St. Peter’s
As is typical, nothing revelatory about this post. Just some post-season nervous energy and I need to read or type something about the game.
Trex, How’s the Easter coffee and chicken wings coming along?
Hammy, do whatever you’ve been doing the last 2 weeks.
Cherokee, give me a baseball update. I don’t care if the game hasn’t started.
Smyrna, you know what kind of post to make.
Everyone else, continue to put on more steam!

But yeah, this one seems tough. But definitely doable. I keep going back to the fact that we only lost by 4 when ZZ was coming off the bench. And they shot 48 free throws! I assume they’ve gotten better, but surely we have. We could get run out of the gym. But there’s definitely a path to victory here. I’ll take my chances! And we have to remember, Painter has a bigger March curse than Barnes. Or they’re at least equals!

I have to agree - it will take some combination of great defense from us, Purdue being a little cold and our offense shooting pretty well for this one to go our way. That's why I'm sickened even more that Bama won last night, because if we don't get to the Final Four I sure didn't want them to do it. This thing feels like the UConn Invitational at this point anyway, but imagine if we pull it off today and Bama goes insane from three point distance and upsets UConn. The thought of having to beat Bama a third time in the game for all the marbles is nauseating. OTOH, if we did it that would make it especially sweet.

Everyone else, continue to put on more steam! Baseball update is that Georgia has outscored us 27-18 in two masterful pitching performances by the Vols. Game three starts at 2:00 eastern or in about an hour and 15 minutes. I have not heard yet who is starting, but it really doesn't matter because it's a bullpen game with Russell still out for several more weeks now. As far as how I'm feeling about the Purdue game, not especially great, but I don't have the nagging worry of an NCAAT "failure" in mind. If we lose to Purdue, there's clearly no shame in that and it was a great season. The only thing I'll hate forever is Bama getting to the FF and we miss it. One other note that I THINK is still correct: to this point I believe CRB has only one win against a higher seed in his NCAAT history. But it would be sweet for the second one to be the one that puts UT in the FF for the first time.

My guess is that we have improved more than Purdue has simply because we were still incorporating new pieces into the lineup and ZZ was really not a shadow of the player he is now after playing several games.
