looks like your thread was... Ha, I just noticed that a few minutes ago myself. Grant sent me a somewhat terse pm because I made the mistake of mentioning Rivals by name in part of my comments about where predictions for Kennedy Chandler originated, asking that I not advertise for Rivals on the 247 site. I told him I was sorry, had not intended to advertise, but understood that my mentioning them by name did, in fact, do that. I then said I wouldn't do it again, and asked that in the future 247 treat board members with professionalism in how they implement decisions like dumping the Hoopsville Board, told him I felt like we had a deal and stated one last time for the record just how poorly I felt they had treated their Hoopsville community by not even providing the simple courtesy of a heads up to members before the board was shut down. That may have stuck in his craw a bit. But the numbers here jumped from 25 members to 44 in about 2-3 days, which frankly wasn't even the intent of my post there. I really just wanted to demonstrate the point that when they killed Hoopsville, they lost information that the hoops junkies were providing on their site. And after that I responded to roughly 35 or so folks who asked me for a link here. So it worked out quite well I think.

Cherokee. A round of applause to help get people here. Thank you. Thanks. All I did was demonstrate the value of this site with one post sharing info here that they hadn't seen on the Checkerboard. So the site is selling itself, but I'm glad to have had a hand in it.

54321GiveHimSix here with my new hoopy name .... That is an awesome board name. I heard Ward say that on the radio as a kid so many times. Living in B'ham, I could pick up the night games out of Knoxville, but I had to sit directly in front of the dial and move it back and forth within a range of about 1 millimeter when static would overcome my ability to hear Ward. So I sat there like that for 2+ hours every night game, straining to hear what was going on. This was in the '70's. There was a poster I used to see on the old Scout board (and Gridscape before that I think) who used the name "Hallowed Hill", which was one of my favorite board names. But your name is right there. I now wish I had used something like "Torchbearer" or "PopsDrops", etc. as a name.

looks like your thread was... I giggled. It’s the only thing they can do. Yep, quite petty IMO.

Not sure I remember that one. Was that the Lofton shot (against Vandy I think) from about 10 feet beyond the arc?

What that the Lofton shot (against Vandy I think) from about 10 feet beyond the arc? I don't remember when i heard him say it but i wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a Lofton shot. I'm sure it was a 3-point shooter from well behind the arc.

Edwards’s had 30 foot range back in the late 60’s/early 70’s. Unfortunately, we never got to hear John Ward broadcast a Lofton game.

I was born in '67, and then we moved from Spokane to B'ham (via a quick stop in Atlanta for my Dad's job training coming out of the Air Force), and this was pre-cable TV by just a couple of years, obviously pre-internet. And at that age, without ready access to almost any Vol news, I just knew we were diehard Vol fans and would get score updates and OCCASIONALLY see a UT game televised. So I really didn't get to enjoy the Ernie/Bernie era, which included Edwards. It was right around the time E&B left and Reggie Johnson arrived that I became more intent on finding Vol news any way that I could, and following box scores, etc. So everything I know about Vol hoops before that time was from reading about it.
