> The injury bug has bit a couple of young Tennessee basketball players. The stress fracture in J.P. Estrella's left foot that slowed him down over the offseason is not healing properly. Rick Barnes said after the game tonight that they were going to have to come up with a different plan and Estrella was considered day-to-day. A different person I talked to seemed to be more concerned than Barnes about how much time Estrella could miss.
> Cameron Carr got banged up at the end of today's game. They initially thought he dislocated his thumb, but it sounds like it may actually be a torn ligament. So something to monitor there. Unfortunate breaks for the two. They both need reps and experience.
> On the recruiting front, Tennessee is working on finalizing an OV with five-star guard Brayden Burries for the Syracuse game on Dec. 3. As I've said before, if Burries makes it to campus, I would consider it an upset if he didn't end up at UT.
> Four-star point guard Chance Mallory is going to take some more time to make a decision after decommitting from Virginia recently. His father has informed Tennessee that it will absolutely get a visit at some point. Mallory is eyeing a January decision.
> There's more and more Houston buzz by the day for five-star big man Chris Cenac Jr. Losing out on Cenac wouldn't be ideal obviously, but UT is still one of the leaders for fellow five-star post player Nate Ament. Tennessee needs to make sure it lands one of the two at the end of the day and was only going to get one. Ament and Barnes have a great relationship.
The news on Estrella's foot injury is very much what I said a week or so ago that I was worried about. That is a potentially big blow for our post depth.
