About to head East. Ist Vols FB game since Butch Jones was there. Hoping for a much better environment (and result). Enjoy the day/night. My last UT/UF game in person at Neyland was when ‘Vandy Al’ Matthews gave the Gators a TD on the last play to beat us, even though Gaffney very clearly did not catch the football. A sideline view of the play showed Matthews’ arms going up to signal TD before the ball even got to Gaffney.

The first Florida game I attended in person was in 1990. Accidentally bought some student tickets from a well known scalper. Me and my friend walked by 3 or 4 entrances trying to determine who we could get past without having to show a student ID. We were both in our 30s but didn't look our age. Got by a student that was tearing the tickets with no problem. I looked back and noticed he did a double take looking at us but didn't say anything. On top of having student tickets our seats were on the same row in the student section but not side by side. It was a glorious 45-3 beatdown with the vast majority of the TDs right in front of us.
I was fortunate to see the 1998 Florida game from the 3rd row on the East sidelines. I had no inkling Florida may miss the FG. It was a dream come true to run out onto the field and taunt the Gator fans from the North end zone with the Gator Chomp.
Was also at the 2004 Florida game when James Wilhoit missed the extra point and then redeemed himself with the 51 yard field goal for the 30-28 victory.

Nico has now missed on two wide open receivers deep, the second one comically bad.

Well… I’ll take a win over Florida any way it comes. I’ve seen us lose to those jokers so many times I’ll never take it for granted.

We just aren't capable of laying the wood to them it seems like. Even when they stink we struggle. You could put Gator jerseys on Farragut High School and we'd be in a death match, if not find a way to lose.

The Vols had to have this one. I’m glad you were able to see it in person. I was with my Dad in Neyland the last time we went to OT with the Gators, in ‘98.

That was fun. The production that goes into these games is a ton more than even back during the Jones era. Lights, fireworks, music. All impressive.
Much more impressive than our shell of an offense.
I think that is my first win at Neyland since before Dooley.

was at the Arky loss during Jones, was at the 10-9 Florida loss. Was at the Oregon blowout under Dooley. I think maybe the last win I attended was the Georgia game during Kiffen's 1 year. I mean, that has been a minute.
Think I saw the UCLA loss that yr.

I mean, that has been a minute. Think I saw the UCLA loss that yr. I've seen some horrible losses and some of our greatest wins, going back to about 1973/74 timeframe. I made every home game in the '98 magical season. One of my sons made it to the '22 win over Bama. And I've been to some bad losses and great wins at Legion Field. My whole family sat in the freezing cold as Butch's first team blew a game to Vandy in Neyland that kept us out of a bowl game, as Vandy marched 98 or 99 yards in the final 4-5 minutes to score the winning TD.

My wife has been to 5 Tennessee games. We've won them all, and were underdogs in 3 of them (Florida 2004, Cal 2006, South Carolina 2013). If Tennessee cared at all about winning, they'd secure tickets for her to be there this coming weekend.
