Heard he has finished the NBA eval and will portal to TN I saw about the same thing. But I wasn't sure about what he decided about the NBA. Is he not going into the draft, or do they know yet?

Yeah there’s one guy who is tight with our staff that’s been saying that one is a done deal and a matter of time. I have not seen anything about a timeline, though.

I have a severe second hand addiction to smyrna's Trilly Tidbits. The refresh button on my browser has been working overtime the past week or two.

Here’s a bonus one: Trilly said that after we beat Texas, Kim English immediately reached out to help us scout and gameplan Creighton because Providence had beaten them twice. No idea if it will happen, but he said Barnes has been planting seeds for Kim to be his successor in 3-5 years.

However, my spidey sense gets tingly when coaches pick their successor. Sometimes it works. More often it doesn’t.

Danny White seems like the type that won't be influenced by anyone when hiring a coach. I bet we end up with somebody we've never heard of when the time comes.

Several of us have had the thought of him being the successor to Barnes, so I assumed it wouldn't happen. It's good to hear that Barnes is laying groundwork for him. He's done well at both of his stops since leaving.

I don’t think that CRB would try to put heavy pressure for his choice of successor, but would give a plug if consulted. And I’d expect AD White to seek Barnes’ input, and to also consider it as one piece of information and then make his own decision.

I don’t think he’d be swayed by “groundwork”, because he’s not going to just roll over and hire whomever Barnes is recommending. I guess I’m not sure what is meant by “laying groundwork”, but if it approaches a level of trying to pressure White at all, he’ll ignore that IMO. But I just don’t think CRB would take that tack with an AD.

If we can't get Lawson, I would surely take Lanier, even though he would add to something of a logjam at the perimeter positions.

It's easy to see why Mashack might been been anxious about his role going into this season. I have a hard time not seeing Barnes being committed to giving Mashack (especially defense) every opportunity to be on the floor.

I did. I thought I corrected it after I posted that but I guess I didn't. Just a typical old-guy brain-fart.
