More Gainey? Or will we use Dilione and/or Carr some more? We may get more offense, but we'll also probably lose something defensively if Santi can't go.

Exactly what I thought.nothing better than being down a man when playing back to back games

Exactly what I thought.nothing better than being down a man when playing back to back games Based on what Santi has given us for most of this season, and depending on who we play more in his place (assuming he can't go), it's hard to say how big of an impact this will have. My guess is the defensive impact will be much bigger than the offensive impact, although that's hardly crawling out on a limb. But IF Santi can't go, I am even more desperate to get past Creighton. I don't want Santi to have to miss the potential last game of his career. That would stink in a huge way.

Let him come off the bench and in a fever induced delirium, finally gets on a heater and bombs some threes. I like it!

Jokes aside, something about being sick or medicated does seem to reduce ”anxiety” or “overthinking” or whatever plagues athletes. I think there is something to the “flu game” paradigm. Idk if it applies to MJ, because he’s sort of unique, but I think it does happen

we won’t lose defense if mashack starts Maybe not even offense either... I think it's a given we won't lose much, if any, offense. I was just thinking in terms of not increasing Gainey's minutes but had limited my thinking to Freddie or Cameron. But starting Mashack makes more sense. Still, I'd like to see us give the other two a shot if we are bogging down offensively again. We need some shooting/scoring.

Idk if it applies to MJ, because he’s sort of unique, but I think it does happen Interesting theory, and it reminded me of when I played football in high school. We were in the state championship game, and we had a great linebacker who went on to play a year at Memphis and then transferred to Auburn and became All SEC before spending several years in the NFL. I don't know if he had the flu exactly (probably), but he was running a pretty high fever, and playing with a stress fracture as well. I can't recall how many tackles he had that day, but it was a bunch, and he just stuffed their run game. They were a significantly bigger team overall, but especially on the lines. We ended up tying them 10-10 (crazy that they had no OT provision for the championship game when they had it for every other playoff game). Without him, we would have lost for sure.
