there is a solid hoops thread over at 247 on this year's expectations. Bunch of replies - now admittedly some of them are of the 'the floor for this team should be the Elite 8' variety, but still. A decent thread. link

A decent thread. linkTrue statement pdl. But I did like Cherokee’s salty comment the best...ha!! “Unfortunately, many of the great basketball posters are gone since the Hoopsville Board was yanked without any notice or acknowledgment of the community that had developed there. And the result is what you can see on the page now - almost no basketball discussion at all. I'm sure that will change a bit once basketball season arrives, but there was quite a bit of hoops discussion year-round before.“

I posted a question asking about it, and about 2 hours later Ryan pinned a post about the decision, and IMMEDIATELY locked it. And then they removed it after about a week. So I've made a point of mentioning it two or three other times in recent posts, including the lack of responsiveness to posters about it. Grant returned a pm I sent, and while it was friendly enough, none of them have acknowledged how they mishanded it, and he gave me some boilerplate pablum about how the decision was made "to better serve the members". When I asked him to elaborate on that a bit because I didn't see the benefit, he ignored the question. So I intend to make occasional reference to it from time to time until they see fit to admit they didn't handle it well. Until then, I dare them to try to argue with me about it. Every comment they make about it that is defensive or more of an excuse than an apology, I will respond to two or three times. They can delete the posts, and that's fine. I bet I've got more time to spend creating those posts than they'd really care to spend finding and deleting them. It's very simple. All they have to do is apologize and admit their mistake. If they're too stubborn to do that, I'm stubborn enough to continue bringing it up until they realize they would have been a whole lot better off just fessing up and offering an apology.

Do they delete those posts, Cherokee?
I get angry thinking about the ones we’ve lost, like BGV, who made Hoopsville so great. And they just threw the site in the garbage like it was nothing.

I don't think so. They just don't really acknowledge it at all. I sent Grant Ramey a pm, but didn't really get anywhere. He at least responded. But there wasn't much of an acknowledgment about how messed up that was. Just kill the board with no prior notice, and then slap together a notice about it a couple of hours or so after a board member asks about it? Pitiful.
