Wish the best for him. He just always seemed lost. But like the article says, maybe he was always just terribly displeased with what Rick wanted him to do.

interested to see him at HBCU. Delaware State is really bad - hasnt won more than 10 games in any season in the last 5 years. I would imagine he should get to play a bunch.

It shouldn’t have been a surprise to either Kent or Barnes. Kent was saying the same things, even going so far as to say, “I’m not a center in any shape, form or fashion” in an interview before signing with Tennessee. Just a bad fit all the way around. I looked around a bit a while back and none of the posts Tennessee recruited that cycle really panned out. Lance Thomas transferred from Louisville to Memphis and didn’t play much. Victor Uyaelunmo washed out at USC and transferred to Towson. Those were the highest rated kids in the bunch.

I would imagine he should get to play a bunch. 1) I had no idea that Delaware State was a HBCU. I think it’s a good fit for him though...seems like a good school and close to home. He never, I mean never, looked happy or comfortable here. I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did. 2) I still think his redshirt thing was one of the weirder things I’ve followed as a Vol fan. I’m sure you guys could come up with a list of 20 things weirder, but I still can’t figure out WTH happened that year. Barnes played him sparingly in the first game (maybe 2), then sat him. 1 minute of time would’ve killed his redshirt though. Then the summer roster listed him as a redshirt but he wasn’t yet, or vice versa, then at some point it was stated his redshirt was approved? I still don’t get it. Doesn’t matter, but I thought Barnes was super dumb for playing him those minutes, and then figured maybe they fudged some sort of medical issue to cover their mistake. Anyway, guess I can’t ask Grant Ramey or Wes Rucker to investigate any more b/c I no longer pay them.
