If Clemson and A&M don't screw it up - and if Louisville could just not get completely blown out... this could be a perfect day. Clemson wins, 70-66. This day has gone extremely well.

the more I watch this Blue team, I think we are gonna beat the crap out of them. I think we'll hold serve at a minimum.

I know it has been said numerous times, but I know that it is easy for me to focus on our lack of a FF (which of course includes our ENTIRE history, not just under CRB), and to forget how rare this high level of sustained success is for our hoops program. We have a very good overall history, underappreciated by many, but outside of the Mears, Pearl and Barnes eras we have not been one of the truly high profile programs. And what Barnes has done is to have that level of success on a ridiculously consistent basis for his entire tenure here (minus the first two years building the program back up, and the one COVID year).
I dread the day when we have seasons where we know we won’t be any good, and we just have to slog through it and look for signs of hope. The fun of entering every season with an NCAAT bid virtually assured, and feeling like that elusive FF is within reach is hard to overstate. Even though we all know that it has been decreed by the basketball sub-deities that we shall never experience a FF, there are times when it seems possible.
CRB: we salute you, and there are times when I can almost have a warm spot for your doghouse.

every SEC team that played last night moved up in the KP except us (not much room to move up) and Mizzou (who beat Cal by less than expected)

when I watch other teams play I find myself thinking... 'do y'all even practice defense?" Deacon has ruined me. We used to grumble about his emphasis on defense sometimes, when we struggled to play winning offense. But we will miss it one day when our defense isn't elite any more. FIFY

FINAL NUMBERS Lanier - 26p / 4r Zeigler - 14p / 8a / 4s Gainey - 12p / 6r / 2a Phillips - 12p / 6-8fg / 6r / 2b Miličić - 11p / 10r / 2a Okpara - 8p / 4-5fg / 7r Mashack - 5p / 2r Hurst - 4p Dubar - 3p / 2r Boswell - 1p Very nice balanced scoring. Believe that makes us more dangerous this year than last as a result.

Believe that makes us more dangerous this year than last as a result. I think balance has actually been a hallmark of RB’s best offenses at TN. The GW year in particular was more balanced than I had remembered. Even last year is more balanced than you’d think. Now, there might be a subtle difference. Maybe those years ended up looking somewhat balanced because teams sold out to stop DK/GW and other people had easier looks. Whereas this year is balanced because we built it that way on purpose. Not sure. I’ve been contemplating a deep dive either way.

Hoop Explorer has the Vols starting lineup as the best in the country among lineups with at least 90 possessions logged on the season.

Yes - it remains to be seen, but I doubt Lanier can be DK’s equal in terms of being able to put the team on his back when we have to have it. But I think it’s FAR less likely this year that we will be in a situation where we need it. This offense on the whole looks better.
