I really love how he has embraced NIL, portal, etc. Seeing all these other old coaches quit while he excels has been eye opening.

It really has been a surprise but I’m going to wait and see how this year plays out before I anoint this portal strategy. I think everyone would agree last year to be a complete anomaly with the Knechtion effect. We’ll see how well these 4 portal guys work out this year, absolutely no knock on Okpara but if he ends up being the best of the lot we gonna have some serious holes to fill out a top tier SEC squad. My gosh we only have 5 guys available to return next year and 1 commitment to date plus it really looks like we start a freshman or portal at PG. Who in their right mind would want to be put into that position as a point knowing how Barnes treats the position on whole. Really hoping it works out, Barnes has earned a lot of trust from myself just not a big fan of turning the team over with portal guys-YET!

I would suggest, however, that this current recruiting class may be on the verge of becoming a really special one. |
